Work introduction
I treat the piano as
an “automatic” machine from which the player provokes emotional responses
associated with the prospect of imminent departure: sadness, joy, regret, hope,
lament, delight, anxiety, excitement.
In the rush of
thoughts I also tried to depict how the thread of memory binds these sensations
together (through repetition and variation) and yet at the same time this
remembrance of things past is constantly being erased in order to be forgot.
It is dedicated to
Rolf Hind.
