Seven Scenes for Four Flutes was written at the behest of a commissioning consortium headed by Patricia Zuber with generous support from Philippe Kahn, Uptown Flutes, Wendy Stern and, Patricia and Greg Zuber.
Seven Scenes for Four Flutes evokes a sequence of abstract yet vividly colorful scenes that flit through seven distinct textures.
The first performance was by Denis Bouriakov, Bart Feller, Maron Khoury, Patircia Zuber on September 18, 2011 at Symphony Space in New York City.
Seven Scenes for Four Flutes unfolds over seven movements:
I. Build
II. Swirl
III. Echo
IV. Weave
V. Drift
VI. Jagged
VII. Shimmer
All parts are of equal importance. The part numbering is non-hierarchical. All parts are played without vibrato throughout the piece.
