Description
The piece “Celestial keys” is inspired by the Book of Enoch (The Book of Loagaeth) by John Dee, an Anglo-Welsh mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, occultist, alchemist, court astronomer and advisor to Elizabeth I.
This book was written down through divination sessions carried out by the seer Edward Kelley and transcribed on paper by Dee.
They managed to obtain the 48 sheets of the book, dictated in the language of angels (or Enochian language). The book would contain the secrets of the End Times. Tradition believes that this is the book that God himself gave to Enoch, one of the patriarchs of humanity. The problem of decoding this text would be solved through a second book, "The Forty-Eight Angelic Keys", also dictated by angelic entities to Kelley and Dee. In Elia’s piece the text corresponds to the Second Key in which the Angels are described as powerful entities capable of restoring Justice in the world. Celestial keys is the first use of the angelic language in sung form and uses the technique of polysystemism, a technique created by Alessio Elia in which different musical intonations coexist simultaneously in order to create a multidimensional sound.
