Description
Aphorisms (for Marimba solo) are named after aphorism (Greek aphorismós) - that is a terse, laconic, or memorable expression, golden thought, sentence, maxim, gnome, apothegm; a concise, usually one-sentence statement, expressing a general philosophical or moral truth surprisingly and brilliantly, usually used in literature and philosophy. Here, in music composition regarding harmony, and short, engaging melodic construction of a piece, that is memorable. Something relaxing or awaking, like 1st Aphorism, constructed as a delicate birth of the soul descending from heaven to open its eyes in a beautiful earthly, sunny morning. 2nd Aphorism is more like joyful running, achieving the goal, and resting awarded with a little smile of satisfaction. 3rd Aphorism is a bit like an homage to J. S. Bach, and his preludes. The nice practice of legato connection on the instrument has a great potential for smooth playing despite that unlike piano or vibraphone marimba has no sustain pedal to use its help. This short aphorism is also understandable in its form, giving both the theme, varied repetition, and its reasonable solution.
The three aphorisms were created in 2008 and are the result of harmonic sonic searches within the harmonious chords of one single instrument.
