Description
"The Fairy Tale of King Trull"
The greatest king of all time
If you take a look at the textbook, you will quickly realize that this fairy tale about a king who only speaks of himself in superlatives is highly topical.
As befits a good populist, he blames other people for any problems that arise and agitates against them. This ultimately leads (here I have admittedly exaggerated somewhat in my opera) to the fact that at the end, unfortunately, not a single citizen is left alive in the entire empire, as everyone has either been thrown into the shithole, a mythical place in front of the white tower of the white castle, or has fled.
The last scene (2nd part of the Epilogue) corresponds to the first (Prologue). In it, our king muses contentedly about what a good ruler he is, because there is not a single person in the whole country who has ever been dissatisfied with him. (Just think: what president alive today can make that claim!)
But my opera is by no means a heavy tragic work, as one might think, no, the excessive exaggerations of this imaginary king make it highly amusing, even turbulent, especially when he is chased from his desk through half the castle in a dream. I think in many respects you can see a 21st century "Ubu Roi" in this text.
Even though the score contains all the achievements of the last 100 years (typical of the 21st century), I am sure that my music will speak directly to your audience.
The orchestra (43 players) and personnel (from 8 ladies and gentlemen, some chorus and children's choir) is that of a medium-sized opera.
