Description
My aim with this new arrangement was to present a balanced reduction of the orchestral score, for ensemble up to chamber orchestra instrumentation. Great importance was attached to the practicability of the performance material. The composer’s original manuscript and the original libretto were used as a basis. Even where the reduction meant that major changes had to be made in the instrumentation of the arrangement, the acoustic result was to come as close as possible to the original, in order to preserve the specific sound of the Nutcracker.
