Description
The genre of the song is traditionally associated with the pairing of voice and piano. In order to set the rather unknown but versatile poems of the painter Egon Schiele to music, I expand the genre of the song by using various compositional methods.
Instead of the piano, I compare the voice with the vibraphone, which was used for the first time in classical oeuvre by the Second Viennese School (Lulu by Alban Berg).
My composition seeks the intersection of classical and contemporary music and combines mathematical methods in the style of Schoenberg and Webern with aleatorics as well as elements of extended jazz harmony.
The Eleven Songs after poems by Schiele can be performed as a song cycle or in self chosen groups.
