Description
The set of four songs begins with a moderately fast song (Y Gelynnen) about the holly tree, with a rhythmic interplay between instruments. This is followed by a well-known folk melody which portrays a sad tale of lost love (Bugeilio Gwenith Gwyn). The short slow lullaby (Suo Gân) that comes third is also well known in Wales, and would appeal to any instrumentalist. The concluding song (Migaldi Magaldi) is a musical portrayal of a blacksmith's smithy, with the rhythms reflecting those of the blacksmith hitting the anvil, while the lads and lasses of the village sing their courtship songs to each other.
