Description
Aleksey Igudesman has carved a niche for himself as violinist extraordinaire in the worlds of teaching, arranging, composing and even cabaret. In “Strings of the World”, Aleksey takes young string players on a journey around the world. He has taken traditional music from Scotland, Israel and Kazakhstan and set it for string orchestra or ensemble. The publication is rounded off by one of Aleksey’s own pieces, “Salsa de la luna”, a great foot-tapping Latin number.
All the parts use largely open strings and do not extend beyond first position. There is an easy set of parts, plus a second set which makes use of occasional double stops, although these can, of course, be tackled divisi. The two sets of parts can be mixed and matched in any combination. In each set, there are two violin parts, viola, cello and bass, complemented by some optional percussion parts. A score is provided and the parts can all be downloaded from Universal Edition’s website free of charge.
- Four pieces from his concert repertoire in arrangements for five-part junior string ensemble
- Volume 1 of this series takes you to Cuba, Scotland, Israel and Kazakhstan
- Additional easy versions of all the parts provide the greatest possible flexibility in instrumentation
- All parts are available as a free download on our website
