Description
It was one of the first listenings, "Il Canto sospeso" by Luigi Nono. In that room on the first floor of the S. Cecilia Conservatory. If Nono's piece explored fragmentation, a certain sonic punctuation, my work is instead a continuum, in which the voices of the three accordions interpenetrate in an inextricable fabric. If Nono declined the form in a pre-ordered, “mathematical” structure, I chose to enhance the acoustic phenomenon, and the perception of it, exploring its limits, playing with them, towards a conception of music as sensation. These were already my ideas in those early years of study, and that room was the classroom of my teacher, Giovanni Piazza. This piece is dedicated to him.
