Description
Composed in 2006-2007, Salvage’s String Quartet No.2 is a fast, single-movement work for any combination of violins, violas, and cellos. Parts for all four musical lines are available in treble, alto, and bass clefs so that ensembles may choose the parts that match their configuration, be it four violas, two violins and two cellos, or the traditional string quartet. The music calls for various percussive and improvisatory techniques. It is a brash, hard-driving piece that keeps audiences hooked to the very end. For musicians willing to undertake the challenge, this is a very rewarding work—at once adventurous for the players and thrilling for audiences.
