Description
On the occasion of Mondriaan's 150th birthday, Museum het Mondriaanhuis brought seven visual artists and seven composers together to create new work in duos. The idea was inspired by the exchange within De Stijl, of which Mondriaan was one of the founders.
Through the theme 'Unlimited', visual artist Jitske Bakker and I arrived at 'Exposure' as a common work theme: exposure to the binding forces and pulling apart forces of nature; the dynamics of continuous change to which everything is subjected. I suggested a three-part piece of music, she created a triptych of three large drawings with different textures, which, as it were, breathe, bulge and seem to want to escape from their frame.
This suggestion is reinforced by my composition Exposure, dedicated to and performed by the Keuris Ensemble.
