Description
The task of the Millstatt Music Weeks to the composer Johanna Doderer was to create a composition that focuses on Lake Millstatt. In June 2018 she traveled to the place that was to be the center of her work and was inspired by the area, listened, heard, and embarked on an energetic journey, whereby historical backgrounds were also considered. In doing so, she hiked and swam around the place and the lake, allowing the diverse impressions to flow into the melodies, themes and timbres of her work „Millsätter See“ for a cello concert. On August 26, 2018, the composition „Millstätter See“ was premiered with the cellist Konstantin Manaev and the Signum Saxophone Quartet in the „Stiftskirche Millstatt“. In 2019 the same work was performed there in the version for violoncello and orchestera. The cellist was Konstantin Manaev.
