Description
Mysterium tremendum et fascinans is inspired by the definition that the theologian Rudolf Otto gives to the mystical experience of the revelation of the Sacred. This experience would contain two components: the terror of leaving what is known (tremendum) and the irresistible attraction, despite the fear (fascinans). The unity of the work is based on the dynamic balance of the two complementary forces, which is expressed by timbral and dynamic differences. The day in which the work was finished coincide with the terrible fire from the Collective Club from Bucuresti (October 2015), being dedicated to the memory of the victims. Mysterium tremendum et fascinans was performed for the first time by Steffen Schlandt and Paul Cristian during 2016 MUSICA CORONENSIS Festival.
