Description
This work is an autobiographical musical sketch reflecting the state in which I found myself during its creation. It was surely the peak of a personal search for who I am and what defines me, having returned to reside for a short time in my “native” Chile after almost thirty years away. This was the first composition I composed there and musically speaking, it is a synthesis of an array of inspirational aspects stemming from multiple previous residencies I had held in three different continents. There is a constant sense of ongoing search which the music relays through all three movements. Irregularity of rhythm and the balance of persistence and perpetual repetition guide the work forward from beginning to end. Sometimes, the music bares an aggressive tone which seems nothing less than reasonable when portraying someone in an adult stage feeling constantly misplaced and misunderstood by the surroundings. Also present are cyclical elements linking sections and movements which reflect the ever returning question of who one truly is.
