Description
The "Waiting Room" Suite for cello and piano is a set of six movements (A goldfish, The seashells, A black swan, The waves rise, Rainbow, Chess game) inspired by as many haiku by Sherry Grant (New Zealand poet and musician) who in this order want to revive some mnemonic fragments of the philosophical drama "No Exit" (Huis clos) by Jean-Paul Sartre. The first Theme of the piano, apparently static, is initially overwhelmed by an archaic melody of the cello which insistently proposes itself on various registers (A goldfish), then it transforms little by little until it becomes the harmonic weight-bearing column of the last movement (Chess game). The melodic flow that passes from the timbre of the cello to the piano, mimes a sensual dance between the two instruments.
