Starting with a theme he had kept in mind for decades, Jean-Pierre Vial composed this Ballade for the piano in 2001. The Ballade is dedicated to a grand-nephew of his, born that year. Jean-Pierre Vial also prepared an arrangement of this Ballade for flute and harp which was recorded on CD in 2020.
