Work introduction
Bitter Land represents a flux between conflict, and harmony, tranquility and anguish, contentment and regret, all integral parts of one's existence. The work was composed especially for Elena Denisova and Alexei Kornienko and loosely reflects the recent socioeconomic turmoil of the composer's homeland. The first three movements depict a sombre reality of the conflict while the last movement is a hopeful anticipation of an ultimate resolution.
