The main focus of this work is on lush, dense harmonic sonorities. It is part of a recent series of works for like-instrument ensembles, including Images, Temperaments, and Monochromes (a collection of pieces for women's vocal ensemble).
The minimum ensemble is 3 flutes, 2 alto flutes, and bass flute, but a larger ensemble is preferred.
