Cheng-Yu’s Book is a sort of journey through the seasons (of time and life).
It also can includes dance, requiring a free choreography, at the discretion of the dancer(s).
The piece presents many references to Chinese culture. First of all, the title, which is also a play on words since the Chengyu represent a profound expression of ancient China. The Chengyu are frequently used expressions to communicate a concept in the form of an analogy.
The reference is to the fact that the different pieces of this work for flute express images linked to the passing of time, to life and death and to their mutual relationship.
