Work introduction
Childhood Memories is a short piece for toy piano which reminisces about thematic fragments from various musical masterpieces. Written by Annamaria Kowalsky during her residency at the Arvo Pärt Centre, nestled in the heart of the forest, the piece captures the essence of nostalgia and the innocent joys of childhood. The picturesque and tranquil surroundings of the Centre inspired Kowalsky and transported her back to her own childhood on the Croatian coast. Through the play on the toy piano, she creates a unique sound world that reflects the simplicity and carefree nature of her memories.
