Work introduction
This work is written for flute, clarinet, violin, viola and cello. It was finalist in the 1st Contest of young composers of the Andalusian Musical Documentation Center. Destellos Azules for ensemble seeks the relationship between visual color with its different nuances and sounds. The basis of the work resides in the writing for the strings, which exclusively play natural harmonics, thus creating an almost unreal atmosphere of reflections. The special "scordatura" tuning for violin, viola and cello allows to create subtle microtonal variations in the tuning of the harmonics, which together with the wind instruments show iridescence, reflections and sparkles on different shades of blue, hence the title of the piece.
