Work introduction
Duo Unchained was written for the Duo Montagnard, Joseph Murphy - alto saxophone and Matthew Slotkin - guitar, who treated the work to a superb series of performances just before the world of live concerts went into hibernation due to Covid in early 2020.
It is a wild, seemingly uncontrolled work, changing moods and characters at will, as the title suggests.
The linked video was produced recently by the Duo Montagnard, a stunning and sensitive performance.
