Work introduction
The main title of “El Parío” stems from the Spanish word “parir” (i.e. something which is successfully born) and could be translated as “The lucky one”. “El Parío” was written in 2003 by Oriol Cruixent in one night at the music students residence in Munich, Germany, with the collaboration of the percussionist Claudio Estay, motivated by the challenge to write a full piece in one single night.
