Work introduction
This short Christmas Carol is based upon a traditional German tune dating from the 17th Century. It is scored for SATB Choir, and there is the option to have it accompanied by piano or organ if desired. The work speaks of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and is ideal for use at Advent and Cnristmastide, either within church services, or in carol concerts and recitals.
What is necessary to perform this work?
The work is scored for SATB choir, with minimal divisi. It may be sung a cappella, or with piano-organ accompaniment if desired. It is straightforward. Two of the three verses of the text are in German and one in English, but there would be no objection to the texts being altered to be all in German, or all in English.
