A lyrical handful of melody and texture in a variety of moods and costumes, the suite embraces diverse musical traditions from the classical concert hall to the music hall. Like pieces in a jigsaw puzzle, the forms of the movements are irregular, occasionally sharing thematic elements while maintaining an individual identity.
