Work introduction
The purpose of this piece is to direct the consciousness into a place of unity, of beauty and silence, Indira being the Sanscrit term for Beauty. That place of unity is intended to be attained through the dynamic balance of polar opposites such as continuity versus discontinuity, etheric versus dense textures, linear versus circular temporality, through dynamic and timbral contrasts.
Indira was performed for the first time at the Arlington Center for the Arts by THE BOSTON NEW MUSIC INITIATIVE conducted by Patrick Valentino on April 16, 2016.
