Work introduction
JH, for amplified guitar, is part of a cycle of pieces in tribute to the American guitarist Jimi Hendrix. From the ostinato marked by the drums, to the “rif” of the guitar, passing by incandescent moments, each movement evokes or quotes passages from his music, exploits some rock archetypes and recreates the frenetic energy of this genre. Five movements make up this work: 1) Evil man, 2) Next to a mountain, 3) Freedom, 4) Hey J. and 5) Just don't know. In the 90s, during my childhood, when Peru lived under the dictatorship of Alberto Fujimori, under the attacks of the terrorist group Sendero Luminiso and the economic crisis filled the future with uncertainties, discovering the music of Jimi Hendrix was a revelation, a liberation and a refuge.
