Work introduction
The work was written in Thessaloniki in 1980.
It is an arrangement of three pieces by well-known jazz
composers:
“Polymnia” by Johnny Richards, "Things ain't what
used to be" by Mercer Ellington and "Caught" by
Thomas "Fats" Waller.
The ensemble of wind instruments consists of 9
instruments: Flute, Oboe, 2 Clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2
horns, Trumpet.
The Jazz Suite was presented for the first time in 1980
by the “Nikolaos Mantzaros” Wind Ensemble in a
concert organized in Athens by the 3rd Programme of
the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation..
