Work introduction
'The originality of a synonym' is an attempt to convey how every word (every music cell) is, in a certain sense, uncapable of creating euphony (that is, significance) without surrounding ingredients of language validating it.
Even synoyms are born of different conventional tools and roots, having diverse connotations alone. However, they sound integrated into a whole context (a speech) that could belong to a Gestalt Psychologie big picture (e.g.: the well-tempered system).
In case of this piano piece, the twisting of its intervals makes feasible to percieve (I would say: to feel) a global comprehension of how its discourse evolves. My goal when composing is to create changes of mood, founded in paradoxical meanings throughout different connections of the musical language.
This work was written for my beloved friend and brilliant pianist Irene Domingo Castaño.
