MGA SULYAP SA SIMBAHAN NG QUIAPO MULA SA KALYE ECHAGUE (Glimpses of Quiapo Church From Echague Street), for chamber ensemble (2004 / revised 2012)
"Sulyap" shares with the composer's other works the use of weave-like texture created by having all the sound components pace in different motion and activities. The inclusion of an old Philippine ritual chant serves as a contrasting idea - a repose, and a way to mingle old with new materials. For the composer, these glimpses of Quiapo Church evoke past memories, wants, needs and hopes.
