Work introduction
The interdisciplinary score N. 34 Holistic notation study II {Mechanical spectra} fuses contemporary dance with video and experimental sound art. It is based on the two treatises Extended notation and Kinetic notations for the visual and performing arts, in which methods of notation for electroacoustic music, new media art and all types of human movement are developed. At the same time, the work takes a look into a future where humanoid robots populate the world and have become artistically active. The aim of the work is to encourage them to perform dance movements on stage. The piece is divided into two parts. At first, a video and sound work will be created, which will serve as the background for a performance. This performance will then be recorded by six cameras (as clearly defined in the score) and presented as a dance film. However, the performance can then also be presented in a theatre setting. This is the black and white version of the score, but you can access the coloured version on this page.
