Work introduction
The present Nocturne is a “juvenile” piano work that Jean-Pierre Vial composed in 1964. Although the piece is rather slow, it is somewhat challenging because it requires pretty large hands, whereas it must be played as legato as possible. Jean-Pierre Vial also prepared various transcriptions of this Nocturne for wind ensembles who performed those transcriptions in the 2010's.
