Work introduction
Nocturno Onirico, for string orchestra, is an attempt at producing a fantastic, illogical environment. Beyond the implications of what happens in a dream, the term oniric is also used to describe something that seems surreal. The instruments experiment diverse possibilities for the production of sound, going away from traditional techniques but always with elements characteristic of a language that is wonderful, dreadful, or liberating, that allows for an approximation to the world of the strings.
The work is presented in three sections, joined together by superimposing images (or motifs), that each time generate new possible combinations and as a consequence, new sonic results. Superposition and filtering of the sounds and the extension of playing techniques of the instruments are the main elements used in the composition of this piece.
The middle section shows evidence of the influence of the baroque concerto grosso by using three soloists, later adding the ripieno, where the sonic materials are filtered until the culmination in a chorale, with long chords that slowly disintegrate until they fade away.
