Work introduction
“Reminiscence” suggests the recalling of usually pleasant experiences, or feelings from a remote past. In musical language it is to be understood as a more or less conscious echoing of motifs or forms by previous composers. Certainly, in the 21st century, it is not an easy task to conceive a new work for cello and piano, as a chamber ensemble that boasts a repertoire extremely vast, created by many of the greatest composers of all time. However, in these times, it is important not to fall into a "compositional stalemate" caused by the mirage of being able to create what has never been heard before; but to take back the precious knowledge of the composers who preceded us, as indeed themselves have always done, mixing elements, colors, and styles to obtain something new.
