Work introduction
I wrote this sonata for Karl-Heinz Schütz, solo flute at the Vienna Philharmonic, to bring a new piece into the flute and piano literature, and I chose a regular format of 3 mouvements. The first mouvement is a kind of pop ballad for the main theme, developing into a series of south-americas rythmes. The second mouvement is a long melody that I took from my opera "Wuthering Heights" and that I used for a series of variations, from waltz to jazz. The last mouvement is a very virtuoso a tempestuous piece with two solo cadenzas for the flute.
