Work introduction
Work commissioned by Barcelona Creació Sonora with the support of Incentivos a la Creación Musical 2022 SGAE. World Premiere on November 11/12 2022 in Auditori de Barcelona / Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC) conducted by Cristian Macelaru
‘Tessella’ is based on the concept of rhythmic canon or “tessellation of the line” which also comes from the mathematical concept known as “tessellation of the plane”. The North American composer Tom Johnson was the first to theorize and put into practice this concept in the "Tilework" cycle of pieces. The work is dedicated to him.
