Work introduction
This was a pandemic commission, and is a rare example of a work written without a performance scheduled. This is your opportunity to schedule the world premiere with no commissioning fee!
A playful journey into the calls of Frogs inspired by Respighi's "The Birds". Each of the Frog Calls was carefully notated from field recordings of the various frogs and toads, and then incorporated into orchestrations of works by baroque master composers. The effect is humerous, but without becoming a pastiche. This work makes an excellent companion piece to Respighi's composition, or can stand alone. It also serves to highlight the critical efforts by individuals and organizations around the world whose mission is to promote and preserve amphibian habitat.
