The Nightingale
Duration: 5'
Solos:
piano
Autumn 1983 I went through a very sad story, a family split. Left alone, time was passing, and with no reason I composed a few bars for piano, just for myself. A year later I was offered a commission for the festival Swedish Pianorama, in Stockholm 1985, and my thoughts went to the sketches from 1983, to see if there was anything of value. I didn´t change a tone, but fulfilled the piece in a new spirit, that seams to have had a meaning....
The Nightingale became my so far most performed work, from Reykjavik to Rome, and recorded on LP and CD, with different interpretations. It has also been appreciated by students.
