Work introduction
"Three Ludii for Two Clarinets" is a piece composed for two clarinets, divided into three movements.
The movements of Preludio and Postuludio, which frame the second movement, are characterized by a more static, solemn, and somber pace.
The second movement, titled Ludio, stands out for its irony, liveliness, and brilliance, with a dynamic rhythm and mechanical, explosive traits.
A cantabile melody runs through all three movements, creating incidental lyrical moments, transforming and adapting to the expressive peculiarities of each movement.
In general, the piece is based on a constant two-voice counterpoint, which highlights the idiomatic agility of the clarinet and the expressiveness of its registers: the chalumeau register in the Preludio and Postuludio, and the clarino register in the Ludio.
