Work introduction
The text of the first song Desolation is written by Maolin Qingcha. The music begins with sustained mysterious figures characterized by particular pitches and gestures; soon those materials gradually unfold and transform into different configurations while juxtaposing with the vocal part for generating dramatic colors. Most often the piano part reflects the images behind the poems, attributing to the prominent core of the music.
The text of the second song Water Droplets is written by Meifu Wang. Just as Desolation, the piano introduction serves as an important part for the later parts of the songs, the textures of the opening gradually transform into more dramatic fast demisemiquaver figures which become the next prominent elements of the song. The density of the music gradually becomes sparser while fading out towards the end with the reiteration of the opening.
