None of Berio’s Sequenza pieces is for contrabass; Psy is his only solo work for that instrument. In view of its length, Psy is an excellent encore. The music
seems to play with derivations from a Baroque theme; now and again it is
suggestive of Bach, interpolating one short lyrical section.
