Description
A letter from Milko Kelemen contains the sentence ‚was nicht nicht sein darf’. The cryptic, enigmatic but also decisive nature of this double negative evokes in me the memory of a great composer and a generous, helpful person. So it made sense for me to use this quote as the title for the homage to Milko Kelemen.
I have an extremely constructive working relationship with saxophonist Petra Horvat as part of my Drau/Drava projects. She asked me to write a tribute to the great Croatian composer Milko Kelemen for the Roya Quartet's concert as part of the ‘Dani Milka Kelemena’ in Slatina. The result is now something ‚was nicht nicht sein darf‘.
The writer Simone Schönett wrote a marvellous „Sechs Fragmente für Günther Zechbergers Saxophonquartett - was nicht nicht sein darf“. From these six fragments I was allowed to choose enigmatic headings for the individual parts of my composition. A big thank you to Simone Schönett for this generosity and the wonderful fragments.
