Work introduction
Rough beauty aims to highlight the unadulterated beauty of the sounds produced by two instruments often used in folk music: the taragot and the bayan. The timbral exploration of this sonic alloy will become one of the dominant ideas of the work. In contrast will be sections where rhythmic activity will become pronounced, in the hope of capturing the primal energy found in many folk dances.
The work is dedicated to Nikola Lutz and Nenad Ivanovic.
