Biography
Alan Bern, a pioneer of the klezmer revival and a leading accordionist, pianist and composer of Yiddish music, helped establish the accordion as a contemporary klezmer instrument.
Director of Brave Old World and The Other Europeans, he also performed with Itzhak Perlman, The Klezmatics, Andy Statman and many others.
Founding director of Yiddish Summer Weimar, he is a renowned educator who has inspired several generations of students in Weimar and at festivals and conservatories throughout the world.
