Work introduction
When Víctor Braojos proposed me to write a new work to become part of a program focused on the late Beethoven, I accepted the challenge knowing that I would write a short and unpretentious piece, as it is impossible to compete with a genius -the only hope is try not to make a fool of yourself.
My starting point were the last bagatelles of the German master, a surprising pianistic will in which sophistication goes hand in hand with a little touch of naivety, audacity opens the door to discontinuity and the upper register and contrast become the core of the musical speech.
Therefore, my initial intention was to also adopt a certain innocent attitude: setting off a simple and very restricted game (six notes) and trying to explore -and especially suggest- some implications hidden underneath the used material (harmonic colours, metric clashes, surface rhythms, etc). Nothing else, but nothing less.
