Work introduction
"Tiny Little People, Big Big Feelings" is an unpredictable and sometimes very fast-paced rollercoaster of emotions. The line between irony and sincere emotion is extremely thin, and so it often happens that the musical flow turns into a terribly serious drama for no apparent reason, followed by silliness or childish jokes. However exaggerated this emotional flight of fancy may be, we have to take everything seriously, like the whims of a small child.
The composition is based on the fundamental idea that humourless adults who take themselves too seriously will have many difficulties in their lives. In this respect, too, children are much wiser than we are.
The piece is a challenge for the musicians. It demands a high degree of virtuosity and a confident stage presence from the instrumentalists. In addition, the end result must often sound light and playful, with the precisely notated material sounding like a spontaneous action at some points in the composition.
