"Victimae Paschali Laudes" is one of the four medieval sequences, the text of this sequence was set to music starting with Gregorian chant.
The dissonances of the organ simulate a poor instrument, not in tune, just as the parallel fifths of the voices suggest simple and archaic music, outside the academic rules. A very intimate performance with no more than 12 singers and a small organ is to be preferred.
