Work introduction
With Orígens (catalan for Origins) Oriol Cruixent takes a personal and intimate look at his native culture, the Catalan culture. Written in Brussels in June 2012 and dedicated to her grandmother, it was later included in the monographic album Oriol Cruixent - Clàssica Nova released in 2017. Orígens is nourished by melodic material from the Catalan folklore with El Testament d'Amèlia and a final apotheosical Toc de Castells. Oriol Cruixent takes an archaic look to it with the exclusive use of the ancient Greek modes Doric and Lydian.
