Playing together in a recorder quartet for the first time is a wonderful experience. Finding suitable pieces is, however, not easy. This was the inspiration for Theo Warttmann to create a series of excellent arrangements of well-known traditional songs for recorder quartet. They were grouped according to the four seasons and in 1981 Universal Edition published four volumes with spring, summer, autumn and winter songs as well as a book dedicated to Christmas carols. More than 30 years later these pieces are still a treasure trove for those who play and teach the recorder. They are suitable for concerts, celebrations and any other events.
